  That's a whole lot of crap to take in one conversation. How do you both feel after this? And how are the kids doing?
  
  I'm going to archive this conversation. It shows all the typical jw rhetoric and brainwashing. How anyone could read that and not think your poor sister was in a cult is beyond me.

  Zack, I hear ya! I struggle daily with the concepts of personal responsibility, free will and choice. Not sure where I stand at this point. I just know how frustrating it can be. As jw's we were made to feel we were responsible for everyone...the whole bloodguilt thang. It's crazy-making. Now, I have a hard time knowing what I am or am not responsible for.
  
  I think the best I can do each day is to make the best choices I can with the information I have at the time.

  And congrats abandoned. I just read "The God Delusion" as well and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm now reading "The End of Faith" by Sam Harris. Great read. Damn those sexy atheists. Richard Dawkins is hot! :)

  people will invent ways of making blood, eventually, no doubt.

  they will probably have synthetic substitutes for the short term and be able to grow or clone it off our own dna or something before too long.

  so what will the org do for martyrs and publicity then ?

  also, the co called me last month, inquiring about my "spiritual status," including my prayer life.. i told him: "bob, i've prayed to jehovah at least 200,000 times in my life, and he has never once verbally acknowledged my efforts to communicate with him.

  Homeopathy popular in Jehovah's Witnesses ?

  is homeopathy ( the treatment of a disease using, in small doses, drugs that produce symtoms like those of the disease so that one's natural immune system can fight off the disease ) popular among active jw's ?

  my son who was raised as a jw has a large ( adult male palm size ) fatty growth on his back.

  his jw mother is treating him with homeopathy, as is a so called doctor.

  Yes, james woods, you are correct. That's the basic idea of homeopathy.

  Alternative medicine has actually been singled out in the wt and also at various conventions. I'm sure Blondie could find some references for us. I remember specifically an article on muscle testing. I do recall the last DC I went to that there was growing concern about the jw use of alternative medicine and that jw's should be sure that these alternative practices did not conflict with bible principles. And insinuated that many of the practices could be interpreted as demonic. So yes, the wts is on it. Even so, many jw's still seek out alt med. They just don't tell others about it. That's what I did when I was into it.

  Addressing the original question of whether homeopathy is popular among jw's, it would appear to differ by region. Where I grew up there as an elder that practiced iridology, reflexology and treated with homeopathy and herbs. I saw him for a number of years, wasted a lot of money and am convinced that he is a quack.
  
  I also saw a naturopathic dr, not a jw, who had an inordinately high number of jw patients. I also saw a chiropractor, again not a jw, but also with a high number of jw patients. From what I saw, a lot of jw's looked into alternative medicine, often without seeing a regular dr. Whether this is just reflective of what you'd see in the regular population, I'm not sure.
  
  One theory I have is that to see a mainstream dr leaves one open to the possibility of being diagnosed as having an emotional/mental condition, which might then lead a dr to suggest psychotherapy. I wonder if a lot of the jw's, especially those with conditions with a high emotional/mental component (stress and cognitive dissonance), would steer clear of the mainstream doc for fear of that possibility. No jw wants to deal with the possibility of seeing a psych who might tell them that a lot of their physical problems stem from the stress of being in a cult.
  
  Seeking out alternative practitioners who aren't qualified to diagnose conditions or run psychological assessments or other medical tests but only treat based on symptoms may feel "safer" to the average jw. Just a theory.
